The Scent of Roses and Sausages…imagine your perfect election day

16/03/2016
Saturday 19 March, 8am. You know you have to do it, after all you’re a responsible citizen and you don’t want to get fined… so you make the effort and get out of bed. You head to the polls, enjoying the drive through historic South Townsville. Parking is a breeze at Townsville South State School on Allen or Tully streets. There’s even disabled access on Macrossan Street. The people are friendly, they all seem to know each other, and walking through the gate; you even stop to smell the roses. While you line up, the kids do not annoy you, they are too busy eating the reasonably prized sausages and getting their faces painted by the talented Out of Hours School Care staff. Time to go home! Alas, you cannot get the kids from off the spider playground or out of the fig trees - but you bribe them with homemade biscuits from the cake stall. You reward yourself for this excellent parenting with an egg and bacon roll and a real coffee. You get a smug glow. You've not only fulfilled your civic duty but supported the kids (aka Mudpickers) at Townsville South State School to fulfil their dream of a super seniors’ playground. Sigh, what a perfect election day.

You too can have a perfect Election Day
