World's Greatest Shave

Yesterday the Townsville South SS Mudpicker community came out in force to help raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation, by taking part in the World’s Greatest Shave event.
For the first time we had two courageous students put their hands up to shave for this cause, which is close to my heart and many others – as there are not too many families who have not been affected by cancer in some way. A big thank you and congratulations goes out to Kholan H and Jack N for their selfless act, and for thinking of others. Jack said that if he could help save others from going through what I did (as my father died from cancer) that would be a great thing! He has raised almost $700 to date for the cause! Kholan was our senior student representative and helped promote the event amongst his peers, to get school support on the day. Thanks Kholan and Jack!
We also sold ‘face biscuits’ decorated by students themselves this year. This was an outstanding hit and we will definitely incorporate this in our event again next year. Thanks go out to the student council representatives, Mrs Crawshaw and Chappy Drew for helping sell our fantastic face biscuits on the day. Also, a big thank you for Isla M for being my colour buddy this year – helping colour the student’s hair.
We have until the 31st of May to bank what we have raised. So, if anyone did not get a chance to donate, and would like to, please see Miss Brown or Mrs Shirley at the office, and I will let everyone know how much we raised at the end of the month.
I would just like to say thank you to our Mudpicker community for getting behind this event and worthwhile cause.
Kind Regards,
Miss Brown
